Privacy
The short version
There are no accounts, no sign-in and no advertising on Dillydag. We never ask for your name or email. What we keep is an anonymous id in a cookie, so a vote counts once per browser, and we count visits with Google Analytics (below).
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and clips are opened. It does not log or store your IP address, and we have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation, so nothing from it is used for advertising. Outside the United States its cookies are set only after you press “OK” on the bar at the bottom of the page; until then it sets no cookies, and Google receives only cookieless pings it cannot link to you or to your other visits. For visitors in the United States it is on by default and you can turn it off here; the bar is not shown. Your choice is kept in this browser for a year, and Google handles the data under Google's privacy policy.
Analytics is on in this browser.
Cookies we set
- dg_v: a random anonymous id, signed so it cannot be forged. Your votes and the things you are shown, play, save or share are counted against it, so the same browser is not counted twice. It does not identify you.
- region: US or UK, so you only see videos that play where you are.
- dg_hero: which film or clip the home page is featuring for you, so it does not change on every page load.
- dg_consent: your Google Analytics choice (granted or denied), kept for one year.
- _ga and _ga_*: set by Google Analytics to tell one visit from the next, kept for two years. Outside the United States only after you press “OK”. Turning analytics off stops them being set or read; clearing your cookies removes any already there.
Saves and votes
Saved clips and trailers stay in your browser (its local storage); they never reach our servers, and clearing your browser data removes them. Votes are stored on our side against the anonymous dg_v id, never against a name or an account. The record of what was shown, played, saved or shared is kept for 90 days.
YouTube's player
Every video plays in YouTube's own embedded player. When it loads, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies and see your visit, under Google's privacy policy. We do not control those cookies.
AI crawlers and AI referrals
When a known AI crawler (from OpenAI, Perplexity, Anthropic or Google's AI training) fetches a page, we record the crawler, the page and its IP address, so we can check the visit really came from that company. These records are deleted after 90 days. When a person arrives from an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, we record which assistant sent them and the page they landed on, against the anonymous dg_v id and never with an IP address; those are kept for a year.
Film and TV data
Titles, artwork, release dates and cast come from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. More about where everything comes from is on How Dillydag chooses.
